Welcome to my Web page. I am happy to have this chance to introduce myself and tell you about my practice. I feel very fortunate to work at North Valley Dermatology because of my great colleagues, dedicated and caring staff, and our patients. I look forward to working with you to care for your skin.
I grew up in St. Louis, MO and then attended Indiana University-Bloomington majoring in Biology. I then accepted a military scholarship paying for medical school at the University of Missouri-Columbia. It was there I met my wonderful wife Erika. We married and began our family in Medical School. I took internship training at the National Naval Medical Center in San Diego, California as a transitional intern, thinking that I would pursue a surgical subspecialty. However, it was while paying back that scholarship as a Naval Flight Surgeon in Hawaii that I decided to pursue Dermatology. A Dermatologist friend and mentor allowed me to learn, publish research, and grow in understanding of the field. This led to admittance to my Dermatology Residency in San Diego. During all of this, the family grew to three (now adult) children. After serving in Florida, Hawaii, and Okinawa, we decided to land in Chico, California which has been our home for over 15 years and where I gratefully continue to practice dermatology.
The best parts of my practice are without a doubt the patients and the people with whom I work. I have two great partners who have a common vision of excellence in dermatologic care and we work hard to provide that. I have a clinically astute Physician Assistant who is a skilled diagnostician and compassionate person. Our office staff is primarily focused toward the support and care of the patients and each other. It is an awesome place to work, in which an encouraging and vibrant atmosphere informs our patient care.
Practicing medicine at North Valley Dermatology allows me to bring a collaborative atmosphere to my patient care. I thrive in a team environment, which of course includes the patient! Whether that is discussing the latest medical technologies with my fellow providers or figuring out how to manage the ever-changing healthcare environment with our staff. Away from the practice, I am happily caught up in the goings on in my family. I am also a Deacon in the Catholic Church, which I see as an integral part of my healing ministry, serving others and living in gratitude. I enjoy riding my bike (mountain or road), playing guitar, and brewing my own Kombucha.
